A girl in the UK got a 4 year sentance for killing a woman while texting driving her car at up to 70mph - Would it be possible to stop something like this happening, some form of fancy phone lock?

The problem is how would you identify the driver. It seems perfectly reasonable for the passengers to text while going 70mph down the freeway.

i think it is already prohibited to text or use your cellphone while driving because many accidents do happen because of this. discipline is what the drivers need. it is also for themselves if they try to follow it.

I wonder if, at some point in the future, we will see some kind of application where text messages are spoken and where you could also reply verbally, having it converted into text.

that is a great idea blue frog. i think that it is possible for cellphone companies to create that kind of thing because as we know, technology is getting more and more improved.
