Google maps

iPhone will be able to work with Google maps.

Do you think there will be a built-in "iPhone Google maps" application or iPhone will access Google maps via Safari?

in the early stages, I think iPhone will access Google maps via Safari. As time goes by, applications for that particular function will pop up.

I could have sworn in his presentation it was a built-in "widget" if I recall correctly. On apple.com they have a picture of navigation that seems it is a program of it's own with the bottom toolbar. They also have in the caption:

Here is the picture I am referring to:

From the looks of the Map|Satellite|List options on the bottom, I would have to say it is it's own stand-alone program.

well, I wouldnt say that it will be pleasant to navigate around using your fingers. In this situation, a stylus would come in handy

I agree completely; I am unsure how some of these programs will be without a stylus. I am, however, very anxious to find out first hand! :D

I too agree. I would rather take a print out from mapquest/google maps in stead of doing this in iphone. Or else use a palmtop. Navigation of maps in iphone will be horrible.

I don't think this is what he was getting at; he simply stated that accurate positioning would be difficult without a stylus. In my opinion the google maps is awesome for iPhone. I have gotten lost multiple of times on business trips to where I would have to ask clueless locals how to get to my destination.

Yeah man, that was harsh. What if you didn't have printer with you, ahhhhh, screwed your plan already.

As for the Palmtop, er, well, Palmtops are junk anyway (random statement with no fact for back up)...in other words...just kidding.

a print out would be more troublesome, wouldn't it? as long as the google maps feature is added in a pratical-to-use way, i wouldn't see that as a problem
