Is Hacking the Iphone Legal?

With all the talk online about hacking the Iphone to work on other networks other than AT&T - no one seems to address whether this is illegal or not. What about breaching warranty terms - is the Iphone still covered by Apples warranty?

Probably not, I suspect that anything you do to modify the iphone in any way will void the warranty. However, i'm not sure that that warranty would mean much anyway..................
