almost all phones,be it nokia, samsun,lg,any company, all have a much better quality camera than the iphone.this is one place where apple needs to up its standards.
Your points are sound; I agree.

Now that we agree--how many megapixels should the next iPhone camera have?

How much magnification (3X, 5X, 10X) if any, should there be?

Any other features for the upgraded iPhone camera that you would like to see?

I never had a digital camera before and I was hoping that I would not need to buy one when I bought my Iphone. After seeing the quality of the pictures which I took with the camera on my Iphone, I quickly went out and bought a proper digital camera.

Well, what do you expect for a phone. I think just because it has a camera it is only to get people interested in buying it. I cannot believe that people complain if you really want a camera that takes good pictures then you have to buy a camera to take pictures not a phone. It was never intended for people to be photographers with them.

Apple had to compensate somewhere and they simply picked the wrong section. How could the R&D create such a poor peripheral with a masterpiece.

I don't have any issues with my iPhones camera. It is not photographer quality pictures but that's ok with me. I only use it for a quick shot of something and then they are deleted.

I can see why some people would have issues with it though. Granted, when it is broke down, cost wise, it is all fine and dandy but it is still not a cheap piece of equipment and people, obviously, expect better performance in the gadgets that are offered. --Give it time though it will happen and eventually most of the kinks will be worked out.

Honestly I couldn't care less about the camera, I don't use it for anything.. I have a small compact camera that I carry around and I use that. It's 10.1 MP, so it does the job for the iPhone!

Also, keep in mind that these are about 30 times smaller in numbers of pixels than the actual photographs, so quality is pretty hard to judge.

These were not taken to show off the camera; they were just the first shots using a new camera on the iPhone. Experience will make it easier to take better shots, but from a camera these are good enough for me.
I think the pics are not that bad, the phone offers you so many features that the camera becomes secondary. Though the picture quality is not brilliant but its not bad too.

Lets be real. The iphone will never be a special "Camera phone" on the same note there is no need to downgrade the phone's camera to being worthless because I could tell you its far from that. I owned an LG KU990 before my iphone and they considered this as a camera phone and this phone took some crappy pictures considering all the hype on the LG. With the iphone, taking into consideration the package your getting here is not bad at all. If you like to see a few samples just message me. PEACE !!

The iphone camera, i think is brillient!!! for a 2mp, i would even go as far and say its as good as most of my 5mp camera phones that ive owned, (and believe me ive had all of the 5mp camera phones thats come out onto the market in the uk), at least this little camera works in dim light unlike 95% of all the other camera phones that ive had (including the 5mp camera phones), which have come out grainy and satureted !!!!
The iphone in general is the best phone ive ever used, out of all of them, which makes me giggle because the other makes of phones bring out on average 3 to 6 new phones a yr and apple has seemed to get it right in just the hand full of there phones they have released onto the market......the only downfall of the iphone is the size and the battery could be better.
