well then, users have to be careful not to charge the battery in incomplete cycles. try fully charging it during each recharge or the battery will die sooner.

Easier said than done when your desperate to stick some new tracks on it but the thing charges itself up when connected.

You have to love the balance that this is going to take. Don't charge in full cycles results in damaged/weakened battery. Charge for longer than cycle recommends and it also results in a damaged/weakened battery.

4 or 8 gb

I have a Treo 650 and the largest sd card I can place in it is 2gb and thats plenty of room for me, I have few dozen mp3s, full versions of nacho libre and the wedding singer and extra apps. I think people are comparing the iphone to the ipod too much, when you look at other smart phones with expansion cards, the most you can expand them to is 8 gb just like the iPhone. So whats the big deal?

The big deal is, it is the new iPod. So people shouldn't compare iPhone to the iPod, they are now the same thing. Confusing eh?

One of the biggest issues for many will be the touch screen. I can see the tales of woe now as people post about scratches. Now, if Apple have that sorted out properly with some new technology, I'll be impressed. The iPhone doesn't really lend itself toa screen protector.

There's a lot of old wive's tales about battery charging. Here's what you should do with Lithium Ion batteries:

1. From new, charge fully.
2. Deplete completely.
3. Charge fully.
4. Deplete completely.
5. Charge as and when and for how long you like.

The potentiometer in the phone will thus be calibrated more accurately, resulting in more accurate battery level readings, and the battery will also be conditioned.

Lastly, when leaving the thing for an extended period of time without charge, make sure it's approximately at half charge before storage.

Loads of people will disagree. Do some really in-depth Googling and than decide for yourself.

Thanks for that information, it's written down on a post-it on my desk now!
