Apple Chat iPhone difficulties.

So I spent about 4 hours on Apple Chat / 1-800-MY APPLE tonight trying to get information about the iPhone release. They even abandoned me at the end, which is a technical support no no. Its one of the commandments of technical support. Apparently, the iPhone is not going to be released at 6PM on local time but at 6PM PST no matter what. The problem is that im in EST and the stores would have closed by then. That makes no sense at all. Here is the most frustrating account of what happened tonight:

• You: It seems odd that it is almost impossible to figure out even how to get this product. I am not asking about company secrets, I am asking about the availability of one of your most anticipated products.
• You: I would hope that this is not how Apple wishes to run it's buisness.
• Janet R: IIt can be purchased online AT&T stores and Apple stores
• Janet R: We have not been given any additional information at Apple Chat on this unreleased product. I am limited in the amount of information we have here. It will be release 6PM PST on June 29
• You: And for Eastern Standard Time?
• Janet R: No Pacific Time
• You: So the only place it is going to be relased is the area covered by Pacific Time?
• Janet R: All over us
• You: But it is released at the same time?
• Janet R: yes
• Janet R: We really do not have much additional information than that.

• You: I have been signed up for a while now, and the only information I recieve is information about the Iphone itself, which the internet is proficient enough with. I dont understand why the process of figuring out how to purchase a product that Apple is selling is so difficult.

• You: So there is no way that I can figure out what time to go to the Apple Store to be sure that I get an Iphone?
• Janet R: We know it is going to be released at 6PM on June 29. Apple Store or AT&T stores
• You: Unfortunately, 6PM PST is 9PM EST where I live, and at that time, the Apple stores close, will they stay open for the introduction of the Iphone?

• You: This is a dilemma, I would like to purchase the iPhone on June 29th but unfortunately, I live in a Time Zone different than the Apple HQ. I am assuming that the release of the iPhone is going to be similar to the release of Tiger, in that the stores close at 4PM to get the floor ready to open at 6PM.
• You: in that case, it would be beneficial to get there early.
• Janet R: Just another minute...
• Janet R: I believe you are right
• Janet R: We have not been provided with any additional information at this time in Apple Chat.
• You: The only difference would be that Tiger was released at 6PM on local time, not PST, right?
• You: Whereas the iPhone is going to be released all at the same time, across the country.
• You: Hello? Are you still with me?
• You: Hello?
• You: Anyways, Thank you for all of your help.

Wow. I knew I had them thinking everytime they told me to wait.

I called 1.800.MY.APPLE today to see about the iPhone and what details I could get out of "Jason." A couple of intresting things turned out as a result of this call. I wanted to ask about the 6:00pm release time. Was it PST or was it per local time zone. "Jason" says it's EST time. Since I live in the Central time zone I should be able to get an iPhone at 5:00 pm right? "CORRECT" says "Jason."
Next, I have been hearing reports that contradict Apple saying that we can get the iPhone online which I was told by "Jason" at 1.800.MY.APPLE that was not true. He did tell me that I could call the 1.800.MY.APPLE phone number and place an order for the iPhone.
The rest of the call was rather short but I hope this helps in anybody's future purchase.

That completely contradicts what I heard as shown above, this is weird.
