automatically sync?

With my iPhone (NOT G3!) I´m having the following problem:

Trying to set it up to sync automatically when connecting to iTunes, the option ¨Automatically sync when the iPhone is connected¨ (Summary > Options) shows greyed-out and can not be selected in the corresponding check box. The other two options can be selected!

Maybe it has to do something with the fact that under ¨Version¨ it asks me to update to version 2.1, which I don´t want to, as I have an unlocked iPhone!

The only reason I want an automatic sync is because I want to sync the ¨Notes¨, besides the the ¨Contacts¨ and ¨Calendars¨ (which by the way sync perfect in manual mode!)

Any idea on how to get sync my ¨Notes¨folder?

Thanks
